Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook on medium speed for about 5 minutes.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Shape the Dough
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll Out the Dough: Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, approximately 9×13 inches in size and about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 4: Bake the Breadsticks
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown, and the edges of the bread are lightly browned.
- Cool Slightly: Let the breadsticks cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before cutting.

- Cut into Strips: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the bread into strips, about 1 inch wide.
